My childcare experience began in a small town in Maine at the age of thirteen. I began by caring for neighbor's children then for their friends', and families' children as the years went by. At sixteen I was caring for a family of three (ages five, two and half, and just under a year old) three days a week after school for four to five hours. I worked for a handful of other families on school breaks, week-ends and date nights. One of those families were a set of twin boys that I cared for from the ages of four until they were about ten when I left home to move across the country. I also worked several summers for the local Recreational Department summer camp programs. I then took a break from childcare for several years. My recent experience consists of caring for families here in Hawaii. I have Read more cared for the children of an employer (I worked for her small business and then babysat as well) as her family grew from one boy to two and now a little girl as well. Through her reference I cared for children of her friends from time to time. In 2009 I cared for a friend of my employer's toddler two days a week for about five hours for nine months or so. In 2010 I was accepted as a care provider with Malihini Keiki Care, a childcare service agency on the Big Island of Hawaii. Through Malihini Keiki Care I was offered childcare positions to work mostly with families on vacation. These positions consisted of caring for children at resorts, private residences (Hualalai), second homes (Kukio and Black Sands), condos and time shares. Many of these jobs were caring for several children at a time from infants to twelve years of age. Some were single date-night jobs, others were six to eight plus hours for the duration of the family's stay on the island. I worked with this service for a little over two years building a relationship with several families with whom I worked for repeatedly when they were in town. I have just relocated to the Berkeley area from Hawaii and would love to find several families looking for flexible childcare help. I am currently First Aid and CPR certified (infant and pediatric) through the Red Cross.

Abby was wonderful! She's very kind, gentle and patient with Alex. My son and I enjoyed meeting her and would very much have her over again when opportunity comes. She's punctual and very attentive to my son's needs. Abby responded timely to my email requests despite my short messages. I'm very satisfied with her service.
