Hi, I'm Julia and I hope that we are a good fit! I moved to Oakland/Berkeley from just outside of Boston almost 10 years ago. I have the most experience with children in the 2- to 6-year-old age range, since I naturally love that period of development when children are so curious about everything and can find the interesting and exciting aspects of everyday activities. I also have experience with infants, toddlers, and school-age children. I actually began working with kids when I taught recreational gymnastics classes as a teenager. My next position working with children was as a literacy tutor in an afterschool program. I love exploring nature in the many parks here. As a nanny I also took children to many playgrounds and libraries. I have fun with kids at home playing games, acting out pretend play scenarios, reading or making up stories, creating crazy art and craft Read more projects, baking/cooking if age appropriate, and building forts. I'm looking forward to finding out what your child likes to draw, build, or pretend to be. Every child and every family is unique, and I want to meet your child's needs to the best of my ability. My highest priority is safety, followed by making the child feel comfortable. I love having fun and laughing while playing and being silly with kids, but I also really value being able to help them through difficult situations or strong feelings and I want to be a source of comfort for them. I love learning about different parenting styles from different families and cultures. I don't mind helping out with laundry or cleaning if it's not too noisy while children are sleeping. I also enjoy cooking if you'd like me to prepare meals for the children. Fully vaccinated + bivalent booster + flu shot Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certified Valid CA driver's license and clean driving record (but I don't have my own vehicle) I don't have any pets, but I am very pet friendly 😀 My current schedule is very flexible (I'm studying Child Development and hope to have my Master Teacher Permit about a year from now). I hope to work in a preschool program that aligns with my personal philosophy of education. I want to bring my play based, child-centered approach to babysitting into the classroom.
