I have been working with children for almost 10 years. I have babysat for different families over the years and I have also worked as a teachers aide for special education in school districts. I just graduated from Cal State Fullerton with my Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies. I am preparing to apply to the Special Education Credential Program at CSUF and will be starting that in January. While working as a babysitter, I have had responsibilities like picking kids up from school, taking them to their various after-school activities like soccer practice, voice and piano lessons, as well as, working with the kids on their homework assignments at home and making sure they are bathed and fed at night. While working as a teachers aide for special education, I have had responsibilities like making sure the students are on task, answering questions, helping complete school assignments, and making sure Read more they knew what their responsibilities were when it came to homework. Outside, I would supervise children on the playground and make sure that if they had problems, they would come to me and I would help them solve it. My main concern with working with students with special needs is that I wanted them to gain their independence. I enjoyed helping them grow and be able to succeed in their academic lives as well as their personal lives.
