I have spent approximately 15 years, or half my life, working with children in a variety of settings. I began babysitting and working at an in-home day-care center as a teenager and I quickly knew I wanted to spend my life helping children in one capacity or another. As I continued working with children, I started college at the University of California, Davis and graduated with a bachelor's degree in developmental psychology, as well as a minor in education. I currently work as a Registered Behavior Technician in a special needs kindergarten class. I have about three years of experience in the field, working in large groups, small groups and individually with children on the autism spectrum, helping them to acquire appropriate communication and academic skills. Last year I was also fortunate enough to gain experience in a Montessori preschool. There I was tasked with the responsibility of supervising the Read more twelve children who were part of their after-school program. I have previously worked as a residential counselor at the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento. I worked specifically with children under seven years of age, many of whom had behavioral challenges, and who were being cared for by child protective services. I have interned in a neurotypical kindergarten classroom of 22 children, worked individually as a math and reading tutor, volunteered with the children of recovering addicts and been a family nanny twice. My philosophy regarding children is that they naturally have good intentions within them and that they are trying to navigate the world the best they can. With that in mind, what children need is proper modeling and guidance as they explore their surroundings. They will make mistakes that need to be addressed but with gentle and clear methods that help them grow in healthy ways. Since I do work full-time, I am looking for opportunities involving evening or weekend work but I will always do my best to be as flexible as possible. I am currently certified in pediatric and adult first aid and CPR. I can provide proof of this as well as college transcripts upon request. I appreciate the time taken to read about me, I understand how important of a choice this is and I am grateful to even be considered.

Great with the kids. Loves to interact and do projects which is great, however she does not clean up after them. She ultimately quit because I asked her to please make sure she adequately cleaned up after the projects aka don’t leave small pieces of plastic containers and cups and baking soda residue all over the back patio, table and smeared on the floor in the house. A little background... Because the cleaning up had been an issue in the past, I had asked her not to do messy projects on the day our gal was coming to clean the house. She cancelled a few hours before she was supposed to come watch the kids stating that our ideals were different. This was unprofessional, juvenile, and really put us in a tough spot as I was already at work. I also never said stop doing projects, the kids love the projects. I simply asked her to be responsible for cleaning up after herself and to not do a messy one on the day I was paying someone to clean the house. I feel this is basic adulting. I was always taught when I babysat that you leave the house in better condition then when you got there. After working a 12 hour shift, who wants to come home and clean up after everybody? Moral of the story is, if you want your kids to do fun projects and you don’t mind cleaning up after, then she’s your girl.
