I had my first nanny job when I was 18 years old however I began caring for children in my church's nursery when I was 14. I'm now 48 and I've cared for children in one way or another ever since. I was a nanny for the same family for 10 years and started when the child was 10 months. I've worked shorter periods for families throughout the years and I've babysat for more families than I can count. I was a substitute Montessori teacher for preschool kindergarten and first grade while I worked for the 10 year family. The school approached me to see if I would be interested about being a fill-in substitute because I was always there and had such a great connection with the children. I was a supervisor of a private country club for 6 years, where I began a story time arts and crafts Read more class that the parents as well as children had a great appreciation for. I also put together a summer Science Camp so success that two additional sessions were added to accommodate all the participants. I am a caregiver for the elderly and disabled and do pet care and pet sitting. My friends and clients tell me I have the patience of a saint, and honestly I must agree. I would much rather be playing with children taking care of people than being behind a desk or answering the phone any day of the week, to me is just second nature to gift given to me. During my years at the Country Club I cared for a variety of Special Needs children; Downs Syndrome, Autism, Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, and life-threatening food allergies.
