My name is Simmone Fite and I am a recent UC Davis graduate with a degree in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. Right now, I am currently working as a professional babysitter until fall 2016 or sometime after before attending nursing school. I want to be a pediatric nurse in the future, so babysitting and child care is something that I would love to do more of and apply the current knowledge I have with working with children. I also am currently a Junior Teacher working in one of the kindergarten classes at Robert Willett Elementary School in Davis, California. Wanting to be a pediatric nurse in the future, I have had many different experiences working with children. First of all, I have six nieces and nephews that I have babysat and helped babysit since I was about five years old until college. I have experience with them from being newborn Read more to becoming young adults. In high school, I volunteered at many church groups that my friends and family were apart of in the child care rooms or afterschool programs for church children. I have volunteered at a library signing up and reading to the children who joined the kids' book club. I volunteered in a jazz group that helps middle school and younger children learn how to play and love jazz music. I also volunteered at a music camp cleaning up after and helping children learn how to play musical instruments. During college, I interned at the UC Davis Medical Center assisting doctors and nurses with caring for and treating children. Not only did I help do vitals on the children, such as weighing them, taking blood pressures and taking their temperature. I also watched over the children when doctors only wanted to talk to the parents or if their brothers or sisters were getting shots or a checkup. My internship with the therapy department at the UCD Medical Center allowed me to work with children who had physical disabilities because of accidents or birth defects and they needed to work on building up strength in certain muscles in order to be more mobile and independent. So, you can see that I have experience with child care from a medical, babysitting and educational perspective.
