Tasha’s Bio

I want to act as a good grandmotherly influence to your children :) I am filled with a life-time of experience in childcare beyond that of my own children. I even put my ex-spouse through medical school by running a child care center in our home (although now, years later, I only babysit in my clients' homes)...
I am certified in CPR for Children and First Aid. I have been a volunteer on a Disaster Assistance Team for the Red Cross and have served as a spokesperson for the San Diego Epilepsy Foundation. My character is impeccable. I am reliable,, loving, kind and energetic ... I am a stable Del Mar home owner.
I believe a good babysitter is more than merely entertainment for a child. She should guide, encourage and teach many little (age-appropriate) lessons. But children also need time to grow, imagine and create on their own. It is the balance of the two that promotes a sense of accomplishment for children. Even when "my" children are playing on their own, I do not put TV on for myself. Most television is objectionable especially for children and I never watch if they are awake and rarely when they are asleep. I believe there is interesting and educational television programming, but even it should be viewed on a limited basis, not used as a crutch. Latest studies by the American Pediatrics Association suggest that children under age two should not watch any DVDs (educational or otherwise) and validate my opinion.
I wrote a syndicated newspaper column called "American Nanny". In it I discussed relevant subjects of interest to young families.  I also wrote reviews of children's literature.  I always come well prepared to engage the children in healthy, new topics.
I have traveled the world from school in Europe to the former Soviet Union, China, Australia,New Zealand, Africa, Alaska (did a marathon there), Canada, Mexico, Norway, Scotland, former Soviet Union, Caribbean etc (Good for Geography lessons). I was a Food Editor and was trained in France and Italy (good for cooking lessons). Additionally, I won seven medals in the local Senior Olympics for swimming (good for pool/beach playtime). In March 2011 I returned from Ethiopia where I worked briefly with children through World Vision as a volunteer.  By August 2012 I had been a volunteer with a Foster Children's camp in Julian.  Previously, I have been a volunteer in Julian for children with Epilepsy.

Tasha is wonderful. My 3 yr old and 11 month old love her. They didn't even cry when I left. (A first!) Tasha is very calm and I felt comfortable with her immediately. I am not worried about my children when they are in her care. My children had a great time with her and she made them the center of attention. I highly recommend her. She really went out of her way to help me and to make me and my children feel at ease.

Tasha did an excellent job caring for my 4 and 6 year old children. She was here for a long day (11 hours) and everything went perfectly. The kids are already asking for her to come back! She was great with the children and also was very helpful with keeping the house picked up and doing their laundry. I highly recommend her!

Miss Tasha was excellent. As a new Mom AND it being the 1st time we left our baby with a sitter, she completely put my mind at ease and was wonderful with our daughter. I highyl recommend her!

It was the first time I left my 8 1/2 month old baby with a non relative sitter for 8 hours for two consecutive days. What a relief! Tasha was very nurturing and caring to my child. From the get go, she was so reassuring and comforting that it put my mind at ease to be able to leave my child in good hands.

Tasha is an incredible care-giver. She put us at such ease leaving our two boys in her care! (4 months and 2 1/2 years) She truly takes the time to listen and immediately creates a wonderful bond with the children. You don't need to look any further!!! How wonderful to enjoy an evening out with my husband without a single worry about the boys!!!

Tasha only worked for me two days but she was very proactive in trying to find ways to take good care of my elderly mother. She loves to cook healthy and was very energetic. Although she did not work out long term for me (I need someone who can do housekeeping), I would highly recommend her.

Fantastic babysitter. Tasha has a lot of energy for little ones and knows just how to engage with them effectively. Very warm and a joy to have in your home. My two year old twins are asking when she is coming back!

Tasha has worked for me three times and I would highly recommend her. She came to me and offered her services when I was in great need of a sitter. She always comes prepared with activities for my three year old twins to do. From art projects to playing at the park to reading she is very energetic and engaging. She also keeps them on their routine and assists in practicing good behavior and manners.

Tasha took care of my very clingy 3.5YO while we were vacationing in San Diego without a hitch. She was fun, caring, punctual, brought toys and books for my son to play with and they had a wonderful time together. She even got him down for a nap! I would call her again in an instant and would recommend her whole heartedly.

Tasha is a modern day Mary Poppins. She has a wonderful way with children and is excited to share her life and travel experiences with them. She is always prepared with well-thought out and fun activities. My 3.5 year old and 8 month old daughters really enjoy spending time with her.

Tasha is wonderful. She brought toys and activities for our 4 year old and kept our baby busy and content as well. She is quite experienced and has an intuitive sense of what each child needs - physically and emotionally. She also had a great sense of what parents need and had some great advice for us about our individual children. I highly recommend her! Erica

Tasha looked after our toddler for a few weeks and she is a lovely lady. Unfortunately, my level of comfort and trust with her weren't were they should have been so I decided it was best to part ways. I guess that what seems alluring at the beginning (her extended experience, beyond her years..) ends up playing against her; too much experience means she doesn't feel the need to ask when in doubt, but instead make her own decision (which at times end up being in detriment of the child). Also, I understand that when caring for children "accidents" can happen, but it is in the name of a mother's trust that you should disclose these things... not end up learning about them thanks to a "nanny cam". Hopefully we all learn from our mistakes, and in some cases is all about executing common sense. I wish her well because she is a very nice lady.

Provider's Response

It is amazing to me after decades of nurturing, guiding and protecting of children that someone like this woman would criticize me in any way. I spent many hours actively engaging her baby in age-appropriate activities. I loved her children. What she is referring to is that she left some hand wipes at the baby's changing table, which I used once when changing the diapers. She had not told me not to use them nor did she provide any other type of cleaning wipes. She stated the baby had a reaction to them and it was all my fault. When something is my fault I don't hesitate to admit it and apologize. However, I was unaware of this alleged allergy and had to question why she would leave it there (with nothing else to wipe the baby) to begin with. She took no responsibility for that. I babysat the next day and I did not view any rash or reaction.
I have found there are just some mothers who are over anxious and impossible to please. The fact that she would feel compelled to write such criticism suggests she is a bit over reactive.
I have five times more five-star references than anyone else on Sittercity in San Diego county. I will let them speak for me. I aim to please.
