Hello moms and dads! I am an energetic 35-year-old from Boston, MA seeking a occasional or regular childcare opportunities with an emphasis in educational enrichment. I have extensive experience with infants, toddlers, and twins, and multiples. I received my BA in Psychology with a concentration in early development from Dartmouth College in 2006. I earned my Masters in Fine Art at California College of the Arts in 2015. I have taught fine art at both my alma matters and currently teach part time at Santa Monica College. I have nine years of experience working with children ages 1 month - 14 years, both as a daycare provider and nanny. My childcare routine involves a healthy balance of hugs, laughs, education and structure. I am in every way an artist and academic, and this is where my childcare style stems from. I enjoy providing STEM, language and arts activities for ages 2 and up, as well as activities that promote social and emotional development. I also find that everyday activities can frequently become teachable moments, and believe children should learn to take pride in helping care for themselves and their home. Some of my favorite activities to do with kids are: hike and then picnic at the top of the hill, maybe interspersed with some outdoor art projects; read out-loud and be read to by those old enough; make up funny dances together and perform them for the grown-ups; build indoor and outdoor forts, preferably ones that include a super-secret communication system; invent things and perform science experiments of varying levels of difficulty and icky-ness, depending on the child; search for hidden treasure, which is everywhere if we look hard enough. Littler ones and I love to: share stroller walks, naming the flora and fauna along the way; learn and use hand signs; sing constantly about everything from snack-time to far-away lands; find out which goofy faces and voices get the most laughs; read baby books as well as books we don't really understand yet; work on our sensorimotor skills; make nice big messes and clean them up. I have a 2018 background check from the state of CA, and am happy to provide a copy upon interview. I will be re-certified in pediatric First Aid & CPR by the Red Cross in June.
