I have raised my 38 year old daughter mostly by myself while her father traveled for many years. Currently, I am assisting w/my 5 yr. old and 3 1/2 yr. old grandchildren. I haven cared for numerous nieces and nephews, along w/many of my daughter’s school classmates. Newborns to teenagers, feeding, burping, changing diapers, changing bedsheets, poop up to the arm pits and on the wall. Crayons on the furniture and floor, spit-up and vomit... Crying,... screaming, pleading for mommy, pleading to stay w/me when mommy shows up. Laughter, silliness and a willingness to get down on the floor and play, all of this is a part of child care. What is needed is Love, support and discipline. I make an effort to do my best each time I undertake the huge responsibility of caring for someone’s beloved child.
