I began my career in care-taking as an in-home provider for the elderly, which involved help with personal care, shopping, errands, and cooking. I gave medicine reminders and helped organize dosages. I cleaned households and transported clients to and from appointments. I also monitored clients overall health and worked with family and hospice to provide comprehensive care plans. And most importantly, I offered companionship. I also worked as a nanny for single families and as a shared nanny between multiple families. My responsibilities included providing consistent care for children of varying ages. I worked in an extremely flexible manner to accommodate families ever-changing schedules, worked closely with teachers and occupational therapists. I also drove children to and from school, activities, and appointments. I cooked organic, vegetarian meals with children, focused on gardening, food education, and healthy eating habits. I also traveled with families on vacation, and worked occasional overnight and Read more week-long shifts during parents work trips. After that time I worked as a preschool teacher and an art studio director, which included creating daily curriculum using a scaffolding approach to build off of the natural interests and tendencies of the class to uplift the social and emotional comfort and intellectual welfare of each individual child. I Implemented developmentally appropriate provocations, coordinated with supporting staff to conduct discussions about furthering improvisation and present evaluation, maintained classroom and art studio environment to meet health and safety standards, conducted and attended training seminars to meet state requirements for on and off-site continued education. I also coordinated field trips and off campus trips. I consistently modeled behavior I hoped to foster in children: curiosity, treating others and ourselves with respect, wonder, and awe. I then ran my own summer camp which involved collaborating with children to implement safe and exciting individual and group activities and filed trips to promote developing communication and problem solving skills. I acted as a co-learner by observing, researching, and supporting the groups natural exploration of the world. I engaged in open dialog and side by side experimentation. I operated my business based on principals of sustainability and social responsibility.
