Growing up in Houston Texas, in a large family I was fortunate enough to grow up around young relatives that I got to influence, guide, help and mentor. I got to see my younger cousins grow up from infancy to young teens. It brought me great joy to be able to help my grandmother watch my cousins and be a part of their growth and development. As I matriculated through life with the aspiration and goal to be a positive role model I went on to pursue my education at Howard University where I graduated and got my B.S in Health Science with a concentration in Health Management. While living in DC and pursuing my education I was fortunate enough to work for a non-profit organization called M.O.M.I.E.S TLC. There I got to work with children from ages 3-7 teaching them about great people in history and preparing lesson plans Read more for children of different ages. While working there, I learned so much about how to work with different kids from all types of backgrounds, and how to effectively build curriculums and positive behavior catered towards a child's needs and disabilities. Also, while working there I was promoted to Site Coordinator where I over sought a diverse group of people at multiple Montessori Public Charter Schools. Working there has taught me a great deal about children and how to best communicate effectively with them as well as the parents. However, once I graduated from college I relocated from Washington DC to Los Angeles California where I sadly had to leave the nonprofit. Even though it was a sad goodbye, working for M.O.M.I.E.S TLC equipped me with the necessary skills to work for LA City Recreation/parks, where I became a summer camp counselor/Recreational Assistant for the Oak Wood Recreation Center. While working from Oakwood I was able to use my skills acquired to work with kids much older than ages 3-7, but with ages ranging from4-18 years of age. This allowed me to growing in being able to reach and teach children from all age groups. Working at Oakwood also taught me how to be divers in my discipline approach and how I communicate with different age groups as well as children from different back grounds. As a young 22 year old I have spent most of my years working with kids. I love working with children because I love seeing them grow and mature. I love being able to help them grow and achieve great things in life as well as having fun and seeing them have fun.
