Shanel’s Bio

My name is Shanel Moore and I am originally from a small town in Northeastern Ohio. I am a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, and I recently relocated to California for work. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with family that I have here in California as well as roller skating, watching movies, and other fun activities.
I have a lot of work experience with babies and children of all age levels with the youngest having been 5 weeks old to the oldest being high school aged. My background and experience in working with children comes from working as a coach, substitute teacher, camp counselor, and working in children's theatre. I am a very active person that loves play and activities. I LOVE going to the park and being outside in the sun! Another one of my favorite things when babysitting is storytime! I might actually like it more than the kids do, but I enjoy it whether I am reading the stories or allowing the child to practice their reading skills by reading to me.
The things that are important to me while babysitting babies and children are safety, helping with educational progress (if they are school aged), promoting self confidence and high self-esteem, being active, and making sure they are eating well. This means that if it is a school night and they have homework and need assistance with it I would be glad to help. Being active means that I like doing things like going for walks with the stroller, playing a sport, going to the library, or attending play centers. However, I am not offended if the parents prefer and feel safer that I only watch the baby or child inside and never leave the family's home. I am all about children eating healthy and well. I don't mind preparing meals and snacks in order to feed the babies and children that I am watching, and I follow any limitations placed on sugar and candy by the parents.
Whether the children have every toy ever thought of or not many toys at all, my favorite one to play with, while interacting with them, is one that I know that they all have- their imagination. I find it really fun to activate and employ a vivid imagination, however, if the baby, child, or teen that I am working with just needs to chill, I can do that too.
Soon, Shanel N. Moore

Got a last minute appointment and my regular babysitter (whom I found from Sittercity ;-) wasn't available. Hated to have to work with a stranger but had to take a chance, plus my mum and I live together so she'd be able to oversee the care.

Shanel was a great relief. Before I could even begin my spiel she began asking all the pertinent questions (food, sleep schedule, temperament, likes & dislikes, etc) and before I left she was already playing peekaboo with my son, which did a great deal to break the ice between them. When I finally allowed her, she took charge and all was well. I kept calling mum to check up on them and mum didn't hesitate to say "this one is good" Very comfortable in her skin, which put us all at ease. She even brought books to read for nap time.

A find. Good people. Look forward to seeing her again.

P.S. Oh, did I mention she was on time? To the minute!. She even text me 2 hours before to let me know she had woken up and was getting ready. More information than I needed but damn glad she cared enough to make the effort. Somebody raised this child well.

I can't say enough good things about Shanel. I really can't, and if I did, you may think I was a friend of hers trying to make her look good or something. But seriously, I don't know her and I never met her until Saturday. I'm a stay at home home and have never needed assistance with my kids, but when my husband was admitted to the hospital, I needed someone to watch them while I visited him. I called her and she was very nice and courteous and I had no doubt that I would be comfortable with her. She met me at the hospital and my kids took to her quite quickly. She was wonderful with them. She played with them, gave them snacks and kept them entertained, which is exactly what I needed. I'm so grateful to her and hopefully when she's available, I'll be seeking her services. She is definitely a wonderful babysitter and human being. I don't think that anyone will be sorry in hiring her!!

Shanel watched our 15 month old for two weeks while I did my military reserve duty. She is a conciencious, responsible caregiver. We were very comfortable having her stay with our daughter. I felt she was a bit nervous at first... maybe I didn't do a good job of making her comfortable. But she warmed up quickly and became fast friends with our daughter. Emma was very happy with her and seemed to be having lots of fun when we came home each day.

Can't say enough good things about Shanel: professional, personable, attentive, punctual, communicative--she just "gets it" and was a godsend, especially on short notice. Good vibes, puts you at ease. My girls (2 and 5) took to her right away. She was down on the floor playing Barbies with them, creating dress-up characters and scenarios, and was kind and patient when I was being a crazy person attempting to explain where things were and our routine while hurrying to get out of the house. When the girls awoke the next morning, the first thing out of their mouths was: "Mommy, can she babysit again?"

Shanel sat for our two boys on a last minute's notice. She was friendly and the boys warmed right up to her. She was able to make the dinner and get them into bed- not an easy feat. We will call her again in the future and have her watch our children without hesitation.

Kind, friendly, and best of all, came at the last minute on a Sat. night after my scheduled sitter fell ill!

Shanel was great with our son and hopes she''ll return --what more can you ask for?

Shanel is an awesome babysitter. We needed a sitter on short notice and this was the first time we hired someone that wasn't family. Shanel was amazing, she was on-time and played well with the children. The little girl actually wants us to go out more so we can call Shanel to babysit. Great sitter!

Shanel was wonderful with our two and a half year old son. She even brought children's books she selected from the library to read to him! Our son is a pretty good talker and when we asked him if he had a good time and if he liked her we couldn't stop talking about what they did and that he wanted her to come back soon! We are so happy to have found her and plan on having her back again very soon, especially if our son has anything to say about it! :)
