I am a certified former high school teacher (Business Education) that was promoted to an administrative position within the school district (South Carolina, Orangeburg). I consulted for our school district (Occupational Education state mandate compliance) for 4 years after retiring to raise my three daughters (twins included in that number!). My husband was transferred to Irvine, California, in 2001 and my daughters were all raised in the Irvine Unified School District. I have volunteered extensively, taught Sunday School to all age groups, and worked at UCI Infant Toddler Center while earning a certificate as an early childhood assistant teacher from IVC. I have much experience in the areas of motor development (my daughters are NCAA Div I Gymnasts at SJSU and my other daughter is a tennis player and cheerleader at Woodbridge High School in Irvine). I enjoy reading to children to help them gain verbal skills necessary for child Read more development. I enjoy allowing children to pretend play, explore new concepts, and watch faces light up with discovering something new. I have been trained in the area of positive discipline with absolutely no spanking, hitting, or corporal punishment. Modeling good behavior, using words to prevent injury to self (or others), and setting limits/boundaries are just a few of the techniques for helping young children build self-confidence and self-control. I conduct my own home with routine and order and have taught my own girls (and my husband!) to treat what they have with respect and clean up after themselves. Children make me happy!
