Hi, my name is Nancy and I have been working with children for approximately 21 years. I have experience working with children ranging in age from 3 months old to 12 years old. I currently have a Teacher permit through the state of California and I have my Associate in Science degree in Early Childhood Education. My child care experience began many years ago as a babysitter for families in my neighborhood. I have always enjoyed working with children and experiencing the joy of watching them grow, learn and explore the world around them. I worked as an on-call nanny in Hawaii while also working as a youth development mentor at the Boys and Girls Club of Maui. I have worked as an Infant-Toddler and preschool teacher at two different preschools. During this time I cared for infants as young as 5 months old, which included daily routines of diapering, Read more feeding and napping, as well as reading, singing and soothing. I have experience with tummy time, bottle feeding, determining why an infant may be upset and of course, building a trusting relationship. As the children got older, I was an integral part of their development from crawling and scooting to assisted walking, to walking without assistance; from bottles to cups and finger foods, and language development. A big part of my day was also spent fostering social emotional development for children. While working with preschool aged children, I helped plan and implement activities in the areas of cognition, physical development, social-emotional and language. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with children of all ages and I love to watch children explore their senses, the arts, music, dance and reading. As I enjoy spending time outdoors, I also encourage outdoor play for children - playing in sand, dirt, water, exploring nature, and going on walks. I enjoy reading books to children and singing as well. As a nanny, I enjoy taking children on walks, to activities such as music, sign language, story time, playgrounds and parks, etc. I am CPR and First Aid certified and have completed 27 units in ECE. I am fully vaccinated for Covid 19. In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, running and ocean/water sports. My husband and I recently ran a 10 K (his 1st and my second).
