I am a Certified Nurses Aide and nursing student with a CPR/ First Aid certification through the American Red Cross as well. I have worked in daycare facilities, daycare homes, as a live in nanny and as a full time babysitter. I attended the required 48 hours of training to work in a daycare facility in Texas. I worked in 3 different facilities with a range of care from 6 weeks to 12 years old. As a live in nanny I took care of a six year old girl with autism and a two year old boy. I was also taking care of my (at the time) two year old daughter. Since the position was a live in position I provided care during all hours of the day depending on the work schedule of my employer. I became a caregiver because I have worked with children all my life and Read more I am pursuing education in two different fields to work with children in the future. I am a nursing and psychology major. At the bachelor's level of nursing I intend to specialize in pediatrics. With my psychology degree I will specialize in pediatric psychology. Being that my long term educational goals pertain to children I hope to continue to hold jobs that allow me to build on my current level of experience with children. I have a soft spot for children (and babies) because they are our tomorrow. I feel that the more we nurture them the more potential there is to change the world we live in now. The developmental process of children is fascinating to me (hence why I'm doing pediatric psychology). I'm feel that I am a good caregiver because I am patient and because taking care of people is what I know how to do best.
