Hello, I'm Alexa and I'm 22 years old. I am currently finishing my fourth year at CSULB where I study early childhood education/development as a liberal studies major. For over three years, I have worked at the Isabel Patterson Child Development Center where I provided specialized care for children ages six months to three years old. There, I was trained in the RIE (Resources for Infants Educarers) philosophy, which focuses on respect for and trust in the infant/toddler to be an initiator, an explorer, and a self-learner. As a caregiver, I also focus on the idea that children work best with the abilities they have. In order to build a trusting relationship with both the parent(s) and child(ren), I emphasize the use of active listening, thorough communication, and child-centered activity.
