I became a caregiver back in June 2012 to a 94 and 95 year old couple. I learned so much about myself and grew to love my job. Starting off as a temp and choosing to accept the offer of a permanent position. I believe that to be a caregiver, you have to naturally have patience and a nurturing personality. It has to come natural in order for you to love what you do. I am also a aunt to 4 beautiful nieces the youngest being 2 and the oldest being 15. As well as a nephew that is currently 11 months. I would like to consider myself the cool aunt, in the words of my niece. Being a aunt I have to balance study time and fun time, but hey who says you can't do both at the same time? It has taught me to be patience and give Read more space when needed, but be available once they are ready. Being a caregiver has taught me to slow down and enjoy the moment. Skills wise, how to be organized having to have had all medications, bill payments, due dates, dr. appointments and money managing ready and up to date.
