I graduated this May from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA. Graduating with a creative writing degree, I love storytelling. Since 2011 I've improvised in Atlanta as well as Minneapolis and Chicago--play is part of the process! Phoebe is my first name, but some kids just know me as "that nature lady who sings a lot". For three summers (2009-2011) I was a camp counselor at Camp Kitaki in South Bend, Nebraska. As the nature lady I used whatever was at hand--pinecones, birds nest with plastic wrap intertwined, tennis balls--to make games and activities that were less about teaching and more about discovery. Also at camp I was a cabin counselor and lifeguard certified--so I can do a mean french braid and a steady anatomic splint. Through the years I led groups of twelve girls ages 8 to 15 (and one group of eleven 8 year old boys) through navigating Read more new friendships, 100 degree hikes (with the help of water bottles and campfire songs), fear of heights/horses/spiders/middle school, being okay with the near-bullseye at Archery, missing home, and choreographing the sickest rendition of Justin Bieber's "Baby" camp had ever seen (there is never enough jazz hands). Since my first year of college I have cared for my four younger cousins (8, 11, 12, 14) when aunt needs a break or her and husband have a date. Or, if I'm being honest, if Piedmont dog park is open and it's time to run around. I can clean up vomit, poop and cheerios. I'm in the process of recertification for lifeguard and CPR. My cooking is serviceable and am willing to take suggestions (are we allowed to tell the truth on here? I make a real good PB & J) I'm a robust Nebraska gal with a penchant for play, first-aid and being kind--I would love to get to know you and your family and how I can best help.
