I started babysitting when I was thirteen and have consistently done so over the last 19 years. I have cared for the children of dozens of families, ranging from age 2-15 (boys, girls, experience with twins). I have experience in before school care, after school care, making breakfast/lunch, cooking dinner, taking to after-school activities, tutoring, chaperoning parties, overnights, full days, date nights, etc- you name it! In addition to babysitting, I worked as a counselor in a day camp for 6 summers and was also a camp counselor at a sleep-away camp where I provided round the clock care for a group of about 40 girls. I am a graduate from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey with a dual BA in Communication and Theater Arts.  Throughout my time in college, I became very active in an organization called Embrace Kids which enlist the help of volunteers to fundraise money and Read more donate their time to children with Cancer and Rare Blood Disorders. Currently, I am a freelance Television producer and my schedule leaves me free time to be able to babysit. As far as a specific philosophy goes, I don't think that you can have one specific way to care for a child, because all children are different. I believe that each child needs to be catered to in accordance with a good balance of healthy activities (i.e getting their homework done, but also having some playtime). Overall, I am probably one of the most responsible and protective people you could meet, but at the same time, I will always remain a kid at heart. I love playing games and getting creative...that's why I like spending time with kids! My CPR and First Aid certification has recently expired, although I have no problem going in to get it renewed if that is something you'd like to provide.
