My name is Blanca Hernandez, I have been a nanny for over 17 years and with in those years, I've been with three families whom I am still very close with. I'd like to think that not only was I an employee but also a part of their family. Till this day, my girls (4) and boys (2) between three families have special nicknames for me and refer to me by those names. Even the eldest who is now a Junior at Amherst University calls me "Bonkers". You see, as a nanny I feel that its important to have a special bond with the children that I care for, even if they are young adults. These are bonds that have been created from the first stages in which a child knows how to care for a human being, and those feelings do not disappear. Whether, its learning, eating and sleeping habits, etc. If we can work as one, then the child can see that we are a team who is looking out for his/hers best interest. I'd like to share a bit about myself. I have some college education and took early child development classes while attending Los Angeles Trade Tech College. I'm a mother of two girls, an 18 yr old and a soon to be 3 month old.
