Hello all :) Originally from Michigan, I'm a student at DePaul University, where I am majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. (My school is in Chicago, but no worries, I'm finishing up my degree online now that I've moved to Los Angeles!) I've been babysitting for pay since I was 13, and I was a full time nanny during the summer before I left for college, but as the oldest grandchild on both sides of my family, I grew up taking care of my cousins and sister long before I thought to call it "babysitting." Diaper changing and burping were second nature to me by the time I was 5. Additionally, I've spent the last year and a half, first as a volunteer and then as a programming intern, working at 826CHI. It's a non-profit writing and tutoring center catering to underprivileged students ages 6 to 18, Read more and I've gained invaluable experience tutoring, running field trips, and assisting in workshops. Those whose children have trouble with homework can feel comfortable bringing me in on the situation. I'm perfectly willing to do small amounts of housework and laundry, and you can always expect me to clean up any messes that occur while I'm around. I'm good at cooking for multiple picky eaters and (as an added bonus for any health conscious parents out there) I've become very competent at producing healthy meals . I have taken care of newborns, toddlers, and older children. Board games, bedtime stories, Disney movie marathons, games of hide and seek, dress up, and arts & crafts are all a part of my repertoire. I have no hard and fast rules when it comes to babysitting. I find that most parents have their own expectations regarding how their children should be spending their time- it's my job to create a fun and safe environment while operating within the parameters of a family's specific rules.
