Hi! I'm a student of Oriental medicine, babysitter, former teacher, and favorite aunt to five who would love to meet your family. I grew up babysitting for family and for work. My first full time job was at 14 or 15, watching two children full time for an entire summer. I have been working with children ever since, officially and unofficially. Officially, as a babysitter and then as an educator and mentor. Unofficially, as an aunt and family friend. I lived abroad for several years, and in order to get the most out of visits home, I would plan to spend a week at a time with my nephews and niece. During that week we wrote and put on original productions, much to the amusement of the rest of the family. The themes varied as their interests did, ranging from ancient Egypt to jungle life. Once I was settled back Read more in the States, I ran an unofficial "summer camp" on the farm where I lived for my nephews and niece, as well as some of the neighbors' tweens and teenagers. Currently, I work with families in Los Angeles while earning my masters in Chinese medicine. I have seen several families through their infant days into toddlerhood and have also cared for older children. I do school pick-ups on foot or by car, and help with household chores while the children are napping. In addition to my background in child education, I also have a strong background in the visual arts; that creativity along with my understanding of child development translates well to working with and helping to form younger minds. I should also mention that I am an a talented and pragmatic cook. I eat very healthily and wouldn't want anything less for your children. In fact, I think an appreciation of truly good (good for you) food is the basis of physical and mental health. I am well-qualified and eager to help with homework. I have a green thumb and like to keep a tidy and cozy workspace, whether that is my office or your home. I am an animal-lover and experienced pet owner, so your pooches and kitties will not notice your absence (as much)! I am a bi-lingual Spanish and English speaker and happy to use either language should that be useful to your family. My friends, family, and previous employers consider me reliable and responsible.
