Hi! I'm Justine, I've been working with kids for nearly two decades. I've worked as a live-in nanny for a year and have also sitted kids overnight while parents take time off. I started out babysitting for neighbors when I was 12, but it grew from there and soon I was volunteering (Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Special Olympics, church organizations/childcare, etc), working at summer camps, Girl Scouting, teaching arts and crafts classes (jewelry and leather working, face-mask painting, etc) and even tutoring! Working with kids has been as fun, exciting and enriching for me as the kids I look after. We teach each other - they remind me that the little things in life are the most beautiful (and that we are all a kid at heart!) and in return, I teach them about the joy of books, learning new skills and the importance of taking responsibility (for themselves, their action, Read more etc). And of course, the time and place to have fun!!! I went to college for art and design, so imagination and creativity is a part of me as much as anything and thus it is something I like to instill in kids I look after. While looking after your kids, I won't just plop them in front of the TV but rather we'll DO things: go to the park, go swimming, learn a new skill, read, play with nerf toys, clean up, make ice cream sundaes, do homework and many other things! For myself, I'm very responsible, a delicious and nutritious cook, compassionate, patient, firm but understanding, trustworthy and reliable. Although scraped knees tend to come with being a kid, I make sure safety is a priority. I'm good with any pet (having worked in an animal shelter and kennel as a teenager). I have a couple good references (though as I'm a transplant from Philadelphia, only one of them is in California) I'd be happy to share as well. I'm also first aid and CPR certified! Looking forward to hearing from you! Justine F. PS - I have references available upon request, however I do not post them online for privacy purposes.
