I have 15+ years of babysitting experience, from newborns to pre-teens and here I am ready to return working in this field. From May 2012 to December 2014 I lived and worked in Uganda, East Africa with the Peace Corps, primarily working with the youth in designing and facilitating programs aimed at empowering them to step into their power as the next generation. During my college career I volunteered for the Boys and Girls Club and worked to create unique experiences for children. I have three units in child development but an immeasurable amount of experience in the outside world. I believe that my international experience has exposed me to various types of caregiving and that no matter the place or people, that at the foundation of caregiving is respect. When I am welcomed into a new family, I aim to share experiences to establish a sense of trust. I will not come into the home and sit in front of the television set of behind my phone. Rather I will create new opportunities for the children, from arts and crafts to outdoor adventures. I admire the youth and see them through a lens of possibility, recognizing all they do and how it contributes to the greater world. It is with this perspective that allows me to be inspired by the youth and for both the youth to be opened up to new ideas.
