Raveena’s Bio

My favorite activities to do with kids are reading, cooking/baking, play-acting, music, and any and every arts and crafts they happen to like. I love getting my hands dirty and play the drum.

I have years experience working with toddlers and kids. Before and after college, I worked at several NY summer camps where I taught dance, theater, and music.  When I graduated from Hampshire College, I worked as a nanny for an old friend, and also acted as her personal assistant when her workload was heavy. Looking after a 5 and 2 year old, remains the best workout I've ever had. Shakespeare had it right when he said "all the world's a stage". Running shows, and making sure performances of all kinds run smoothly, are a specialty of mine after working with stage managers, costume/set designers, and directors.

In 2011, I spent a year in Anji, China teaching English to high school students where I was immersed in cultural exchange, encouraged to bring dance and theater into the classroom. February 2013, I moved to the High Desert and took on the role of Education Coordinator at the Joshua Tree Shakespeare Festival, where I helped organize education outreach to public schools and the community. Drafting grants, writing clear, communicative emails, and fundraising were all part of the work. Currently, I live in San Bernardino and take care of an elderly woman as I pursue midwifery and nursing. I hope to learn any and every kind of technique when it comes to working with families of all ages.
I am highly organized, detail oriented, calm under pressure, empathetic, and I greatly enjoy performing tasks that visibly make people's lives easier. While I have none of my own, I understand the relief that comes from taking care of kids so their parents can function. It is a palpable relief.
