Hello! I'm Emily. I've been providing child-care to various families for over seven years and absolutely adore each that I've had the privilege to work with. I have worked with children of all ages, from newborn to nine years. I have a five-year-old daughter of my own, Mya. She is a kind hearted, happy, enthusiastic girl who loves to explore the outdoors and the world around her. Mya, my fiancé, and myself just recently returned to Bothell. My fiancé, Robbie, is a Home Mortgage Consultant for Wells Fargo and I am currently taking online classes to become a pediatric psychiatrist. My approach to nannying is greatly influenced by the learning styles of Reggio Emilia. Reggio Emilia is based upon the belief that children learn best through hands-on, developmentally appropriate, engaging activities. These learning activities are cultivated based off the children's individual interests and their world (i.e., family, friends, hobbies, experiences, Read more home life, culture, etc.). These projects enable children to discover the said topics and interests, while also building upon their knowledge by challenging their thinking. I personally have found that children respond best to an aesthetically pleasing environment (or layout of the activity), with space to discover and explore without constant direction. I encourage children through discovery, and facilitate their learning with guidance rather than direction. Our home life is fairly simple. We minimize TV and screen time to a mere little to none. We eat mostly organic, and avoid gluten when possible. We spend lots of our time outdoors exploring the world, and love creative hands-on activities - even when things get quite messy! Ideally I would like to meet a family who's values are similar to our own, and appreciates a semi-structured discovery, play filled day!
