Hello! My name is Julia! I am a 24 year artist and nanny from Boise, Idaho. I am an experienced nanny, having worked with multiple families and kids ages 0-17. Often I have worked with kids from birth-school age, I enjoy building a relationship with the kids and the families I nanny for. I have additionally worked with several special needs children and have worked at the de Young museum in the education department and am especially interested in arts education. As much as possible I try to share that with the kids I work with by doing lots of art projects and hands on learning at different museums. My babysitting philosophy is pretty simple; have lots of hands on fun, be safe, and have open communication with the parents. When it comes to playtime with the kids, I love art projects (I am a ceramicist myself!) going outside to Read more the park, playing pretend and doing science experiments. I am a very hands on, phone away sitter so each child gets individual attention. When it comes to conflict or tantrums, I like to give kids choices for positive behavior and/or distract them with things that are therapeutic for them. For example, I worked with a special needs boy who often had tantrums but could be calmed down if he was asked to build something with his special building kit. So whenever we went out to I was sure to have something for him to build in case he felt overwhelmed. Of course it takes a while to get to know what works for each kid but, but thats why communication with parents and the child is very important. I have experience as an arts educator including in the education department at the de Young museum, and designing and teaching children's ceramics classes.

Our family has worked with Julia for about a year, and we feel so fortunate to have found her! We entrust Julia with school pick-ups, taking the kids to the park, occasional overnighting alone with the kids, and running personal errands when needed. Julia is comfortable to be around and integrated quickly easily with our family. She's punctual and a great communicator. Julia is loving and firm with our children, and understands the importance of establishing boundaries and enforcing them in a kind and gentle way. Julia helps me be a better parent.
