I have been passionate about care giving for children for a long time. My start in child care started as a teenager. I would babysit at local high schools while parents participated in conferences and trainings. After high school, my first job was as a tutor for at-risk children from ages 4-13 in elementary and middle school. We had a great program including homework assistance, extracurricular activities and classes. I also worked as a teacher's assistant for kindergarten, and worked for America Reads in which I would go to classes of all levels of Elementary school and read to children. On a personal level, I helped raise my niece (she is now 11 years old) as my brother was a single father and worked graveyard shifts and had partial custody of his newborn child. This experience changed my life, and can say that I love coming home for the weekends Read more and watching my nieces and nephews (I now have 8 total) and it's always a pleasure to watch them when my siblings need date nights or getaways.
