It all started when I began teaching Sunday school for the children at the church I was attending during high school. I had never been with so many kiddos who I had to keep an eye on. Although it was a challenge, I found something fascinating about their innocence and curiosity. I will always believe that the world would be a better place if we had the simple mind of a child sometimes. They carry joy in a way adults usually can't. Then, after high school, I moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles and lived at The Dream Center for two years. I was given dozens of ministry opportunities and many of which involved a passion for children. I lead bible studies for children every Tuesday and Sunday, as well as helping homeless children and their families find housing. I planned outings for the kids to the beach and to Read more parks for a barbecue! One thing that will always stick with me is when I've visited the project sites in Los Angeles. Some of the parents weren't treating the child like the gift they were. Instead, they let the child be raised by the local gang members. Although many family circumstances are different than this, I grew close to many of the families living at the Dream Center, and many of which I met on the street and helped get into the program. The parents always claimed their children loved me. I think one thing that makes me different from other caretakers is that I really believe in the child's well being. I am willing to do whatever it takes to better the child as their development is essential to the amount of success in all areas following the rest of their lives. I led Bible studies at a mission in Skid Row and participated in Sports programs on the weekends, as well as being a caregiver during church on Sundays! Now, I've been nannying two boys for a few months and I love them with my entire heart. I love devoting all of my time, love, and abilities to one family and the same children. It gives me an opportunity to speak in their lives and feel like I am making a difference in this world. At the same time they teach me things too. I am CPR/ AED/ First- Aid certified. I am studying to become a dietitian and believe health is wealth. I believe in healthy eating and exercise too! We will have so much fun and grow every single day!
