Hi Parents! My name is Karla. I am a 27 year old, San Mateo native who enjoys working with children. In 2008, I was asked by a friend if I would be interested in taking over her job as a nanny for a family she had worked for for over a year. I did not think I would make a career out of caring for children, but I really do love my job! I have worked for two families since 2008. For the first family, I watched two children (3 month old and a first grader). When they moved, I was referred to another family who just happened to be looking for a nanny that would fit their family dynamics. The children I cared for were toddler aged and fourth grade. Due to the age range that I have covered, I have had to care for an infant (diapers, bathes, Read more feeding, playtime, etc) while coordinating and assisting the older kids (play dates, homework help, driving to activities, assisting with snacks and dinner, etc). Over the years as a nanny, I have been referred to multiple families, whether that was a date night, house/dog sitting, or coordinating play dates with the neighborhood kids. I love my job because I think it is fascinating to support a child's growth and help them engage in fun and new learning experiences.
