I am 25 year old bay area native, and did plenty of after-school nannying to help me get by in college. Since graduating from UC Davis in 2013, I have been working in the Intensive Care Nursery at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. My greatest satisfaction has come from providing children and families with the tools to thrive beyond ICN discharge. While my experience is heavily focused on helping critically ill babies, I strongly desire to learn and gain experience working with children at various stages in development. It is my goal in life to support and empower children to reach their full potential, which I hope can be fulfilled through becoming your family's part-time nanny/caregiver. My undergraduate education has focused much on the development of children, with courses that include Communication with Young Children, Children with Exceptionalities, and Developmental Nutrition. I also took a practicum course at the UC Read more Davis Center for Child and Family Studies that afforded me the opportunity to link what I’ve learned about human development to the real world of young children. Under the guidance of master teachers, I became a member of the teaching staff, responsible for getting to know and nurture the development of my "care group" of 2 toddlers. Before each session, the master teacher and I would discuss the specific needs and interests of my care group, as well as specific behaviors to observe or try. As children arrived, I checked in with the children’s parents, and helped children transition from home to school. I also assisted children as they learn self-help and social skills, joined them at a teacher-led circle time of songs, games and stories, and helped them in the large outdoor play yards as they explore nature and develop their gross motor skills. I would like to disclose that I graciously accepted an offer from the UCSF School of Nursing for their Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program, which starts end of May. Although my time with your family may be temporary (looking to help until beginning of May), I do hope to gain a lot from the experience, as well as be as much help to your family as possible.
