I grew up being the oldest in the family with so many younger cousins. As my aunts and uncles went off for work, the young ones would always come over. That left me to watch over them but i didn't mind even at such a young age. I loved entertaining them and just making sure they're cared for. When i was 16, my first job was at a birthday place for kids called Safari Run. I was a party host and my main job was to make sure a child's birthday party ran smoothly. There are many party packages and one part of a party package was for a party host to entertain the children during their hour in the play structure. That involves playing with them in the play ground and setting up a game for all the kids to play and making sure everyone is safe at the Read more same time. This job taught me how to communicate with children and parents. It was most definitely enjoyable and from their i knew i wanted to keep working with children. I would always get a warm feeling in my heart knowing us as a party host made a huge effect on a child's special day. I left Safari Run once i was 17 because I wanted to focus more on working with children. I then was able to get a position at the Northwest YMCA in Cupertino. I absolutely love it there. At this YMCA, i got the position as a Kids Club leader and Youth Fitness instructor. I do tons of stuff there but overall I spend so much time with children. My role at the YMCA is to provide help when they need it with things such as homework, talk to them when they want someone to talk to, help them stay active while having a fun time, care for them, and to keep them safe. Through my work experience, i've grown to love children and i've learned that i just love being around them. I learn so much from them and I believe there's just so much stored inside a tiny body. I enjoy being a positive role model for children because they are constantly looking up to us and making a positive impact in their life is just a great feeling to me.
