My love for teaching comes from a lifelong passion for learning. Since I graduated high school Summa Cum Laude, I surely know how much hard work and dedication pays off in the end. I have always had a passion for teaching children, and showing them that they are capable of anything they set their mind to. Their minds are full of rich information that one must understand to understand how their world works. I was a teacher assistant for a class my junior and senior year of high school (for high school students). I helped the students enhance their creativity and unleash their, as I like to say, little dreamer self. On the other hand my family is full of young children ranging from 1-17 and they certainly come to me for help, and it is empowering to see how I can improve their basic skills.I am currently a full Read more time college student at California State University of Northridge (CSUN) pursuing a bachelor degree in Child Development. As of now I am entering my third year. I am currently a teacher for students aged 3-4 years old at a school in Northridge called Petite School House. Although I have mostly had hands on experience in that classroom, I was also a floater beforehand at the location, which means I have also interacted and had experience with children broadly in the age category of 2-5 years old. At my current location I help create lesson plans for the week which includes academic worksheets as well as an art project that both ties in with the theme for the day. Themes vary from day to day so the children were able to expand their thought processes and enhance both fine and gross motor skills. I was a Junior Camp Counselor in the summer before my Junior year of high school, and to witness my campers having a blast from simple experiments or activities was amazing. It was my responsibility to create a fun and educational environment for my campers (ranging 5-10). One of my goals for every session is to have the student feel empowered that if they try, they will improve. It is important to me to challenge a student, but not to the point of frustration or being overwhelmed. I would assign homework, ranging in difficulty level, for the student after every session and have periodic assessment tests to track progress. Feedback and constructive criticism is key and vital to improving how I may teach students, so it is welcomed. Communication between the student, the parents, and myself is extremely important for a stress free journey to success.
