I grew up loving babies and always wanting to work with children. Since I was old enough to be left alone with a child I have been babysitting! In high school I did a lot of volunteer work with different groups of children. I had my own class for Saturday school at the Childrens' Institute. This class was for children who were falling behind their class in math and reading. On top of the children having issues with their school work there was typically some sort of abuse or issue occurring in the home which caused behavior issues. I really fell in love with helping kids over come difficult obstacles in their lives. As well as working at The Childrens' Institute I volunteered at "A Place Called Home". I helped the kids with homework and monitored the playground. Now I am currently working as a para educator for the Torrance Read more School District. I work with students ranging from the ages of 3-22. My job consists of diapering and actively acting out behavior plans put in place for each student as well as helping each student achieve their goals. I absolutely love my job! I definitely want to further my education in special education. I have learned so much from the teachers and staff I work with and most importantly the kids I work with. I am a very active and creative person which makes babysitting such a fun job for me!
