Work Experience: I volunteered at a Kidango preschool for 2 years and I helped organize activities, cook for the children, and assist them when needed. Personal Experience: In 2004, my father passed away and my mother fell into a deep depression. I had no choice but to raise my younger brother and sister, but because of that I am so close to both of them. I cook for them, clean up the house, pick them up from school, and so on. I also make sure to spend quality time with them and talk to them about their lives. I feel as if parents are too busy to care about what a child thinks, because there is more than they choose to surface. I make sure they know about current issues as well, so I educate them in the importance of feminism, lgbtqa rights, and treating others equally. I come from Read more a Afghan family, so I have many family members! And I am always the first choice to watch their children. Who I am: I am a 19 year old, genderqueer woman who has given so much personal time for my lgbtqa community by setting up workshops the bay area to educate about lgbtqa issues/rights, I worked with LAMBDA/Progect Eden in Hayward for Gay Prom for 2 years, and I am current president of Chabot College's Gay Straight Alliance. I attend Chabot College to recieve my Associates of Arts Degree and to transfer to a 4 year to major in Psychology, so I can become a youth correctional counselor in jail facilities. I want to work with youth, because youth are our future, and I want to help give them a better life. in a warm, accepting environment
