Hello my name is Karen and I am a responsible, kind, fun, high energy person & I consider myself a very good listener. I will follow whatever philosophy you have for your kids & supply the structure to achieve those goals. I have 6+ years experience babysitting for families on a as need basis, plus 6 years of parenting. A little about myself, for the past 5 years I took care of my husband/boyfriend (we lived together 12 years) who lost his battle with throat cancer on St Patrick's Day 2012. Everything was about his care & that is why I worked part time as a sitter. Well now I am ready for more work. Before that I was in a relationship that lasted 6 years. I lived with John & his daughter Ann who we raised together from the age of 4 to the age of 11 (her mother abandonned Read more her). So I have life experience of daily routines, homework, mentoring and all that goes along with parenting. I am the oldest of 3 kids and growing up i was the oldest kid on our culdsec. The closet to my age was 5 years younger. There was a large gang of us, anywhere from 10 to 12 kids. So I just fell into being in charge, we put on plays for the younger kids making the props & costumes, organizing team sports & watching over them/playing at the pool. I love kids and most kids actually think I am a kid in an adult's body. Mostly because i really do enjoy the same things they do & you know kids they can spot someone who is a fake. I like listening to kids, instead of just bossing them around. I explain why, so that they too are a part of the decision to do the right thing, of course guiding them to that conclusion. I find that if they make that choice for themselves it sticks better. Our 5 year old daughter, said Karen was the best baby sitter ever! She was on time and flexible, she brought balloons and cards to play with, and actually played with our daughter the whole time! I only wished we lived in L.A so we could book her all the time! Thank you Karen!

Karen is just great! Bubbly, funny, and dependable!! Our son (10) became fast friends with Karen and couldn't wait till she came over. She is always prompt and extremely conscientious. She would cook dinner and shop. Always eager to help out.

Karen started sitting for us when our twins were about 5 months and their big sister had just turned 2. She very quickly became a favorite of the girls and has done an awesome job of juggling the babies, the toddler, diapers, meals, naps plus making sure the toddler is getting enough attention too! Taking care of one baby and a 2 year old is tough, but Karen makes easy work of taking care of TWO babies and a 2 year old. I honestly don't know what we'd do without her!

Karen recently started sitting for my 18-month-old son and we absolutely adore her. My son took to her immediately and we have been able to confidently leave him with her for both date nights in the neighborhood and for longer stretches. She plays so well with him and her fun loving personality is a joy to be around. She follows our instructions and always keeps in touch while we're away. Karen has also been able to take great care of our elderly, special needs dog when she sits for us - we are very lucky to have found such a caring babysitter!

Karen recently started babysitting for my 18-month-old son, during which we've also asked her to care for our elderly, diabetic pug. She is so sweet with both of them and jumped right in to walking, feeding and giving our dog her insulin shot as needed (which a lot of sitters might not feel confident doing and we might not feel confident asking of them). We have grown to trust her so much that we would like to hire her for overnight petsitting when we need to go out of town. She genuinely enjoys caring for pets and kids and they like being around her just as much!

Karen is great. I've used her mostly for a mother's helper and also for a little babysitting for my 2.5 year old daughter. My little girl always has the BEST time with her! They play, make-believe, "cook" and color and do whatever else She really is a big kid at heart, but with the wisdom and responsible nature of an adult - the best combo you could have in someone watching your kid...
