My name is Tehja (pronounced like Asia, with a T in front). I'm currently a stay at home mom, with previous experience as a child care worker at a group home. I've always been interested in working with children and have volunteered and worked at different organizations dealing with the youth; such as Stand Up for Kids Long beach, the Museum of Latin American Art, Centro de los Padres Y Ninos, and Inside Out Community Arts. During my time among these different organizations I have gained experience working with youths ages 0-18. I've done everything from babysitting, to teaching classes, to transporting kids for visits and helping facilitate field trips. I think it's important to make an effort to understand children, in order to work with them. I don't believe in disciplining, but in relating to children. I think many parents stress out because they don't understand why their baby Read more is fussy, or why their child is talking back. (And sometimes the child doesn't know why either.) However, I think that child care is a collaborative process, that everyone involved should to the best of their ability be in constant communication with each other and state their needs/expectations verbally. I've also been studying brain integration which comes in handy when working with kids.
