Xenophon and Herodotus Xenophon and Herodotus are two Greek historians who presented a narrative for the events life of Cyrus during the Persian Empire. The topic of their writing is one of the few things about it that they have in common. Even though the two authors are writing around the same time period and about the same subject the stories they tell are very different making it hard for readers to choose whom they want to believe. They different types of aspects of Xenophon and Herodotus’s stories compare in the way their lifestyles and personalities reflect them. Herodotus and Xenophon had very different lifestyles, which had a huge influence on their writing. While Herodotus was a philosopher and scholar who spent most of his time studying or traveling in search of knowledge; Xenophon was a general who commanded an army with vigor and skill.
