Hello! My name is Brooke and I am searching for a babysitting or part-time nanny position. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2013 with a degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology as well as with a degree in Spanish Literature and Language. Additionally, I completed the Secondary Science Licensure Program, which culminated with a semester of student teaching at Nederland Middle/Senior High School. I grew up in Chicago (go Blackhawks!) and throughout high school, as well during my breaks from college, I babysat for various families in the neighborhood. During college, I also babysat for families in Boulder and continued to babysit in Boulder for a year after graduating from CU. In terms of childcare, I have worked with all ages, from infants to teenagers. I have held full-time positions in child care in addition to babysitting. For two months before studying abroad in Argentina Read more in 2012, I took care of a 2 1/2 year old who had some cognitive delays. During the previous summer (2013), I was a classroom aid in a Montessori preschool for a 5 year old with emotion and aggression issues. Over the course of the summer, we became very close, which allowed me to calm him down before he resorted to fleeing from the classroom or becoming violent with others. My experience in the Montessori setting also had a huge impact on how I care for and teach children such that I have strengthened my belief in experiential and independent learning in a structured environment. I have taught science classes at the primary, secondary, and post-secondary levels. Throughout college, I taught many after school and summer science classes through the CU program, Science Discovery. What I loved about the position is the chance I had to inspire children to learn science through exciting experiments. During college, I also had various student teaching placements, including the semester long position I held in Nederland, as I mentioned above. I have taught at Longmont High School, Monarch High School, Boulder High School, Manhattan Middle School, and Foothill Elementary.
