I'm from a small town in central California and have been in Colorado for 6 years now. I love the weather, the mountains and the kindness of everyone. When I was in high school, I volunteered at a summer camp for 1st and 2nd graders which was super fun but very temporary. I also volunteered to tutor special needs children. It was vastly rewarding and I loved how accomplished I felt when the children understood what I was saying. The children were between the ages of 9 years old and 18 years old. After graduating I wanted to continue working with children and became a Water Safety Instructor. For two summers I taught evening classes of six children from 4 years old to 10 years old. My mornings were spent working as a QMAP in an assisted living facility. During the winter I babysat a 7-year-old girl and an 11-year-old Read more boy. I would pick them up from school at 3 p.m. and take them to soccer or karate practice. After practice we would go to their house and I would make dinner while they did their homework. After dinner we would play outside if the weather permitted or play board games until their parents got home at 8 p.m. I've done a lot of babysitting of children from 6 months to 12 years old for friends and family and would say I get along with children very easily. I'm currently in school studying Early Childhood Education, so I may become a teacher. Unfortunately I haven't been able to devote as much time to my studies as I would wish, but I'm slowly getting closer to having a degree. I believe in children constantly learning, and I love to make learning fun. I feel that sometimes people forget how much can be learned from just running around a park or playing a board game.
