I have a great interest in a position working with and caring for special needs children. I have spent most of my career in this field and was very successful, not only in teaching skills, but also in building a great rapport and special relationship with all of my students. I moved from Texas to Colorado during the summer of 2010 in order to help my family out, and at this time would love to get back into working with kids, into doing what I love most. Having taught and worked with special needs children with severe educational, emotional, and behavioral needs for over sixteen years, I have gained vital knowledge in how to best teach students in all skill areas, how to manage difficult behaviors, and how to ensure the students’ needs are met and they are thriving, successful, and happy in their educational environment. I focus my attention Read more on each student individually, and create daily lesson plans for each one that met their particular needs, and enabled each one to reach their highest potential in every skill area. I got to know each student the very best I could and have always been able to develop a strong rapport with all students. I am proficient at teaching skills using a variety of methods and materials, and in using teaching strategies that ensure students learn. I created hands-on, enjoyable and meaningful activities throughout the day, and incorporated schedules that promoted consistency and a love for learning. I am extremely dedicated and hard-working, doing the absolute best I can with the kids assigned to me. I am disciplined and focused on my work at all times, and do my best to meet my students’ every need. I am also an extremely active and involved teacher, participating with my students in activities involving sensory integration, play therapy, art therapy, hikes, water play, parks and other recreational and community oriented activities. Although I don't plan to reenter the school system at this time, I would love to use my skills to be able to do what I love most in an alternate setting.
