My name is Sydney and I am a 21 year old student wrapping up my degree at the University of Northern Colorado. I will be graduating with a B.S. in Audiology and a Minor in Special Education on May 9th, 2015. Though I am currently located in Colorado, I will be beginning a Doctor of Audiology program at Missouri State University in the Fall so I am planning on moving to the Springfield, MO area within the next two months. A family friend gave me my first opportunity to take care of children when I was just 12 years old. I have experience working with boys and girls ranging from 2 months all the way up to 14 years old. My experience varies in settings as I have babysat occasionally for multiple families over the years, I have done long-term nannying, I have been a preschool teacher, and a sleep-away Read more camp counselor. My background includes work with children who have special needs as well as nannying and babysitting for multiple children at a time. I am always up to date on my CPR and First Aid Certifications and have both Adult/Child and Infant certifications. Because of my time as a camp counselor I am also Wilderness First Aid Certified. This basically means that I have the knowledge and ability to take care of a minor situation in the case of help not being nearby. In addition to these certifications I am also a Mandated Reporter. My ultimate goal has always been to find a profession where I can work with children. It really is my happy place, for lack of a better description. Time flies when I'm around kids and I really find myself loving my time with them. It's such a blessing to get to teach them new skills and provide them with new experiences, but at the same time the knowledge and passion that can be learned from kids of all ages is priceless. I am extremely dependable and trustworthy. I am an incredibly observant person and like to use this to allow children to have room to breathe, if you will. Of course, I spend a lot of time with the children I take care of and am very involved but I do like to instill a level of independence as well.
