I grew up as an only child until I was about 13 years old. By the time I was 15, I was the oldest of 6, and a regular babysitter for as many as 12! My mother, my stepmother, and an astounding percentage of my close family friends became pregnant around the same time, so I was not so much invited into the babysitting fold so much as drop-kicked into it. This rather unique introduction to the childcare world has given me a lifelong love and passion for it, as well as a set of skills that have been deeply, deeply ingrained. I am comfortably experienced taking care of infants, toddlers, and children to the age of 9, which is the age of my oldest-little sister. I have babysat overnight for kids as old as 17, but at that point I feel that I'm less of a babysitter and more Read more of a support system/contingency plan. I have no formal training, but I acquired my Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification for infants, children and adults along with my lifeguard certification, and have kept it up to date since then. I am fairly laid back, and my babysitting style runs closer to Fun Loving Aunt than English Nanny. I tend to push baking, arts and crafts, music, and playing outside as day-to-day activities. I would love to teach your child to swim and fish for crawdads, or help them with their homework. As of now, my days/nights are fairly flexible, so I can happily work to find a schedule that works for you!
