Dear Family, I primarily enjoy working with young kids between 3 months and 9 years of age. I bring my personal experience of having been a mom, having successfully raised two children of my own (now grown and married), and currently being a step mom over the past three years to a now 18 year old boy. I am at a place in my life where I enjoy children immensely, as I discover I am more relaxed, more patient, available and attentive. I practice mindfulness meditation (in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition), which I feel contributes greatly to an ability to be grounded and sensitive to others' needs. I also feel that I now have more attuned skills that support my capacity to be a caregiver; a Masters Degree in Psychology and Art Therapy. Pertaining to childcare, I have experience working as an Art Therapist with children in hospitals and I Read more have taken professional courses in The Greenspan Floortime Approach for working with children on the Autism spectrum. I have also worked as a personal assistant to two families. The second family included two teenage boys. My work entailed household chores: grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, organizing, errands and being activities chauffeur. Over the last 7 months I have been taking care of a 23 month old girl named Madelyn, one to three days a week. I accompany her in activities such as music class and going on walks to the park. I also include cleaning, cooking and organizational skills, as needed. I enjoy her immensely! It is an honor to be able to be a part of the formative part of her young life. Each week is a different and exciting experience seeing her developmental growth! I enjoy giving love and care as well as developmental benefits to the unfolding of her precious, individual life. At this time I am looking to expand my hours on a more consistent weekly basis and Madelyn's parents are not in a position to extend that to me. Ideally I would like to be a trusted and loving addition to a family I care about, working 15 to 20 hours a week. I look forward to hearing from you if you feel I could be of benefit to your family!
