My name is Sophie Elvig. I am a Neuroscience and Psychology Major at CU Boulder. I have been babysitting for almost 10 years now for families and for my own two younger sisters. My experience includes working in a daycare/edu-care in South Africa where there were up to dozens of preschoolers in my class every day, so I have no problem watching and playing with more than a few children. My duties included making breakfast, snack, and lunch for the baby room, changing diapers, helping resolve arguments between two or more children, and giving lessons on reading and writing in English. When babysitting, I love getting outside with the children, such as taking them to the park, playing basketball, and going on bike rides. I am a strong believer in the wonders that reading does for children; I try to read at least one book with the children I'm looking Read more after when I'm there. As I am a science major I enjoy doing hands-on activities while babysitting (making slime, at-home experiments, etc.). When I am working as a babysitter, I know that I am on the clock and should not be using my phone or other devices. When coming up with activities I try to stay away from screen time. I am also certified in First Aid and as an Emergency First Respondent. I am also a certified Rescue Scuba Diver, meaning I am a good swimmer if that is ever needed while watching the kids. You can trust me to do any cooking or cleaning you may need help with while I am in your home. I will be available in Boulder starting the 7th of January and my classes start on Tuesday January 16, 2018. I mainly have classes on Tuesday and Thursday this semester, so I can be available Monday and Wednesday when needed and anytime on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
