Hello! My name is Melanie, and I have recently relocated to Pensacola from Connecticut. I am 24 years old, and have a passion for working with children. Before moving to Florida, I held several different positions at a YMCA residential summer camp over the course of a seven year employment. My positions included cabin counselor, program director and administrative assistant. It was though working at this summer camp I realized my passion for working with children and how important the young mind and soul is to our society. I graduated from Western Connecticut State University in January of 2017 with a BA in Relational Communication and a minor in psychology. When not in an academic setting, I was working at the Regional YMCA facility as a swim instructor for children under the age of five. I spent two academic years teaching swim lessons. After college, I worked as a teacher, Read more and dorm counselor at a therapeutic boarding school. I worked with teens who were learning to live their day to day lives with various coping and self calming skills learned through therapy and independent fostering. While at the school, I primarily worked with children with autism, OCD, and anger control issues. My future plans include attending graduate school to obtain a masters in either educational leadership or social work. I have two CPR certifications; one from the American Red Cross and the other being the American Heart Association. I am an American Red Cross certified lifeguard, as well as first aid trained.
