My name is Marlena Wikander and I am a senior at Quinnipiac University, Studying history and education. I have been watching kids since I was 14 -years- old, beginning with being a mother's helper for a 3-year-old. From there I babysat ages ranging from 6 months to 13 years old. Most recently I cared for three boys ages 2, 5, and 7. I had been watching them since the middle boy was 2- years- old. I enjoy playing and making up games with them as well as playing outside. My most recent employment was with Hamden Youth Services as a pre-school and afte- school teacher. The pre-school ages were 3 and 4 and was from 8:45 a.m. until 245 p.m. During this time we would teach basic skills, such as colors, numbers, days of the week, songs and how to write their name. We also fed them lunch and snack. Read more They would play outside and inside as well. Around 3-3:15 the school age kids would come in, their ages ranging from 5 to 12. They would be there from their time of arrival until 530. Homework would be done there after snack, and them from their they were free to play games, socialize with friends or participate in art projects. I enjoy working with all age groups, and find great joy in taking and active part in children's lives. I am a very outgoing and friendly person. I do not mind getting down and dirty outside or being inside doing arts and crafts. I understand the importance of development in children due to my education training and would want to help them learn and grow as well as have fun.
