I've spent a majority of my life surrounded by children of all ages, from my cousins, to family friends, to neighbors, to children I've volunteered to help. I do not remember how old I was when I first began babysitting, but for a while I would watch my younger cousins, neighbors, and my mother's friend's children. When I got into high school, I began volunteering through various school clubs and other resources. I have worked with first and second graders in a local elementary school's after school program for four years, children ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade at their field day for three years, teaching fifth graders simple sign language, and even reading to children in a local preschool. Two years ago I worked for the summer school program at Gilmartin Elementary school in Waterbury, CT, where I was in charge of a second grade class with approximately twenty Read more students. Some of our everyday activities included arts and crafts, various sports and games, going to the park, and working on homework. This past summer I nannied full time for a family in Lexington, MA. The family had four kids, although one was away at camp for the majority of the summer. I also babysat regularly for multiple families in the Boston area with children ranging from 3 to 12 years old. I have had a lot of experience with children, including my nephew who just turned 3. I would like to take my experience and put it to good use.
