I have worked as a private nanny and sitter and in the field of education for 13 years, ever since my own son was born. I have extensive experience with children of all ages and abilities from new-born to teens, as well as with twins and twin infants. I have also worked as a camp arts and crafts teacher, Literacy and Arts and Crafts instructor for an after-school program, as a teacher's aide in a DayCare, and as a substitute teacher for the West Hartford and Avon public school sytem. I have a safe and reliable car, a Subaru, so it's good in winter. I'm a big fan of the outdoors and like sports. I love getting kids outside for some fresh air. I like creating order out of chaos, so I have very good housekeeping skills. I try to stick with the routine of the parents and I am Read more also good at helping establish one if necessary. I was fortunate enough to have been able to return to Trinity College to receive my B.A with honors in English when I was in my thirties and am a strong believer that education should be a part of every child's day regardless of what stage of development they are in, so I talk to them a lot, I read a lot, I demonstrate a lot and give a lot of praise. I'm hoping to find the right fit for a long-term commitment, or as long as I'm needed. The one negative experience I've ever had with a family, resulting in a negative review being posted, occurred when a situation finally arose where I felt my only choice was to leave my job that day, and walk away from a situation I felt was intolerable and unhealthy for both myself and the child I was caring for because I could no longer respect the parents' decisions regarding his care.

Left our child unattended while eating. Not respectful of our parenting choices. Used inappropriate language in front of our child. Quit in the middle of a shift.
