Hi! My name is Danielle and I am from Charlotte, North Carolina. I am 20 and senior at George Washington University and I'm falling more in love with DC everyday! I am the oldest of 7 grandchildren (with one little sister- age 10), who all live within 10 minutes of my parents house, so I from the age of 8 I was routinely recruited for babysitting duties. I have been a girl scout since I was 5 and the summer before my senior year of high school I decided to work at my "local" (3 hours away!) girl scout summer camp. It was a fantastic experience. It was a residential camp so my fellow counselors and I spent every week with a different group of girls, ranging from 5 to 16, doing all kinds of activities. We were their primary care givers that week. We kept the safe, kept them Read more worry-free, help them conquer their fears and push themselves out of their comfort zones. We came to love our campers just as they loved us. The next summer I went back to camp, this time as a unit leader. Which means that I made the camper's schedules, created activities, planned cookout meals, and dealt with the majority of the behavioral or other problems that arose in the unit. While I would love to go back, as I get older, I'm more in need of a "big girl job" that pays at least minimum wage, so my camp counselor days are over. But the songs, games, activities and know-how can be kept alive with your kids! I am also available for tutoring! In conjunction with babysitting or not. I am currently a teacher assistant at an Elementary school here in DC, and while that means a lot of interacting with the teachers and getting them what they need, a large part of my job is working with the kids who need it.
